Connecting Poets and Spoken Word Artists with Teachers and Mentors in Las Vegas, NV

Vanessa Latrice Williams is a Las Vegas-based poet, teacher, spoken word artist, and author. His most recently published work can be found in the Young, Gifted & Black anthology, by Spotlight Poetry; Beyond the Neon, published by Zeitgeist Press, and in his own poetry book entitled “Poetically Affirmed”, available on Amazon. Vanessa is a regional Slam champion, twice more than Beyond the Neon Slam and has been teaching and performing for more than 10 years. His voice was silenced for many years due to the sudden death of his mother.

With the support of family, friends, prayers and inner healing, Vanessa wishes to inspire everyone who hears her, proclaiming through poetry that “there is life after loss”. These poetic organizations are invaluable in this field and offer resources, events, workshops and scholarships to poetic communities in the United States, from Yale University, and a graduate certificate in nonprofit organization management, a 26% master's degree in public administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is Poet Laureate Emeritus from Clark County, Nevada, an area that includes the city of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip, where she currently resides. Students in grades K-12 are exposed to the transformative power of poetry through teacher- and student-led workshops, virtual poetry readings, regional conferences, and more. They produce a month-long poetry festival that aims to bring poetry and literature to all Miami residents during the month of April.

The Massachusetts Poetry Festival is a three-day event that brings together more than 1500 poets and poetry lovers. This festival, held annually in Delray Beach, Florida, includes six days of reading events, craft conferences, and poetry workshops with a variety of contemporary poets. Inspired by the Chicago poetry festival created by Kevin Coval and Anna West, Louder Than A Bomb Florida works to harness the impact of the bluapple network with a thirteen-day festival that facilitates poetry sessions between schools, from Homestead to Port St. Founded in 1934 in New York City, the Academy of American Poets is the nation's leading advocate for American poets and poetry, with members in all fifty states. Jennifer earned her master's degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas and her degree in Communication Studies from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania, specializing in Leadership and Social Influence.

She is the teaching advisor for the CSN Environmental Student Club and enjoys volunteering with her students on public land in Las Vegas.
